Electricals & Electronics Engineering
The Indian electronics industry is poised for significant growth thanks to enormous demand in the domestic market and an ongoing shift to building an end-to-end manufacturing ecosystem. This growth is being encouraged both by government policies, incentives and by international investment. Its key and most resource-intensive segment, the semiconductor industry has substantial potential for growth since demand is growing briskly.
The robust growth of India's electronics industry is primarily driven by huge domestic demand for products that can be attributed to a multitude of factors, including a growing middle class, rising disposable incomes and favourable duty structures. The Mobile devices segment remains the largest segment in electronics products, as the Indian mobile devices market has been driven by rising demand for mobile handsets, reducing prices and tariffs.
The production base of the electronics industry is widely distributed. There are thousands of units in the Central and state public sector, the organised private sector and small scale sector. Consumer electronic items always had the highest growth rate as well as production. The electrical and industrial electronics industry has witnessed the growth which is mainly driven by domestic demand although there has been increase in exports for Transformers, Cables, Conductors, MCBs, Meters, Insulators etc.
The Indian electrical industry is multifaceted, manufacturing a diverse range of products which range from high technology equipment to low technology electrical components. A developing nation like India needs constant improvement of the infrastructure of the electrical industry to maintain the consistent performance of the nation’s power sector which in turn will ensure a constant economic development.
Telephone cables, winding wires and bare copper and aluminium conductors are manufactured to meet requirements in different fields. Capacity for manufacturing optical fibre cables (OFC) has been created in India. Almost all types of dry and storage batteries are produced in India. Storage batteries are required for automobile industry, train lighting, posts and telegraphs apparatus, power houses and for traction. New units are coming up and the process of upgradation of technology in this industry is continuously benefitting the producer and customer alike.
